About The Officiant

It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for; the moment you’ve been dreaming about - it’s here! You’re standing in front of your family & friends as your love story is being shared with them. How are you going to feel? What are you going to be thinking? Will you be present? Will your family & friends be engaged? Will they be excited for this moment that they’re sharing with you? There are a multitude of questions that I ask prospective couples; many of which they hadn’t thought about, or are honest in saying that they don’t know how the ceremony really works, where to even begin, or what they should expect. That’s where I come in! What does a professional wedding officiant do you ask? I can honestly say that many people that I speak to about my profession don’t understand the full scope of what’s involved in being a professional wedding officiant. Some believe that an officiant simply stands in front of your audience and reads words off of a piece of paper. And, to be fair, I’m sure there are wedding officiants that do just that. Well, as a professional wedding officiant my first role is education. Educating couples, and people in general on what it is to be a professional wedding officiant. It’s a craft. It involves the ability to connect with people on a deep level; not just surface stuff. To be a great listener. How else will I be able to connect with you to then in turn create a ceremony that speaks to you. To be proficient at writing. As a professional wedding officiant I write all of my ceremonies from scratch so being able to write is kind of a big deal. Public speaking isn’t for the faint of heart and many people that I speak to have strong fears when it comes to speaking in front of others. Not me! Whether it’s a group of 10 people or 300 I carry a confidence that shines brightly. But something that goes along with being adept at public speaking is how you engage your audience. Is the audience listening? Are they hanging on every word? That’s very important, as your hope should be that your family & friends are captivated and present as they share such a beautiful and special moment in time with you.
